Common Name or Meaning The Splendid Calanthe – In China Er Lie Ye Xia Ji Lan

Found in Penninsular Malaysia, Java, Borneo and Sumatra at elevations around 100 to 1900 meters in primary montane forests as a large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with close set pseudobulbs almost completely envelopd by leaf bearing sheaths carrying 4 to 7, lanceolate, acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, to 32″ [to 80 cm] long, densely many successively flowering, racemose inflorescence with 5 sheathing bracts spaced out along it and carrying up to 50 flowers.
