Site Description
An area of relatively undisturbed mangrove formations backed by peatswamp
forest. It is an important site for crocodile breeding, and supports a rich
bird fauna and some primates. Principal vegetation: Mangrove forest 20,000 ha.
Peatswamp forest 50,000 ha.
Site Location
Located on the east coast of Sumatra from the southern bank of Selat Panjang,
near the Sungailakar settlement, the site extends south down the coast to
Tanjung Datuk in a strip approximately 10 km wide. |
